As most of you probably know, I'm a folk dance addict. I do various styles of dance, and I also call.

Quite a number of other TTers also come to Round ceilidhs, and the dancing at the end-of-year banquet usually seems to be widely enjoyed, leading me to hope that I'm not the only person who enjoys ceilidh dancing.

I think it would be cool to make one of the interactives this year an - entirely IC, full-continuity, rules-supported - ceilidh, with dancing, but also with possible gribblies wandering onto the dance floor, people politicing in the sidelines, striking deals as they swing, poisoning the refreshments and so on...

The logistics of this are non-trivial but by no means impossible. We'd need music - I'd suggest a CD player, and set it somewhere with "sounds and sweet airs that give delight and hurt not" drifting out of the air, rather than going with an actual band.

I'd be happy to call (provided I was cast as a suitable role), or we could get someone else to do so.

We'd also need a suitable room, although I think this shouldn't be too much of a problem - several of the rooms we've previously hired would do, I think.

And we'd need an IC pretext - this one would be up to the refs, I guess. Possibly something involving the Fae or similar, to justify music without musicians...

The other main drawback I see is that making one of the interactives a dance would be tough on people who like interactives but not dancing. But it would be entirely possible to go and spectate and chat to people between/around dances.

So:

Is anyone else interested? Do people have thoughts/suggestions/preferences about running it? And are their people (including the refs, whose approval would obviously be needed...) who would actively prefer that we didn't steal one of their interactives?

Like the idea:

Actively against:

I will support the idea if people want this to go ahead. I'm not a ceilidh person by nature but we can fit this into the plot, I'm sure. --Requiem
