I'm BACK! Previous, Ref, Head Ref, and Wiki Setter-Upper. I've spent more time reffing than playing TT which is an error I must correct!

After a two year hiatus I'm back and eager to see what has become of Grantabrugge in my absence. Yes, I'm bringing back Betsy the Azraelite - Roxie may make a reappearance too. Don't expect to see Tessa though, my brain doesn't work that way any more.

Another quote I just dreged up, that really should go somewhere:

Refs really should keep a Little Book of the Things Player Say:

:This was said whilst running into my room, with no warning whatsoever, sometime last year
:Beware - players can call the most random things at you completely out of the blue

Player (to bryony): "Do Nightmares have genitalia?"

What I Want from a LARP System - as a Ref

*I want to be able to explain to a new player, in less than five minutes, everything they need to know to play any of the main starting characters - including 'hits' and any spells or miracles they can cast
*I want to be able to *remember* the above for any kind of character (without constantly referring to notes)
*I want a ruleset capable of being printed out, and condensible into a 'cheatsheet' (2 sides laminated A4) for creating NPCs with all the miracles and spells on.
*I want to be able to create monsters nobody's seen before, with 'flangey' skills or effects that haven't been seen, without having to call "TimeFreeze?" and have a five minute explanation. I don't care if the system doesn't cover all possible effects, but I do want to have easy access to calls that PCs won't have.
*I want to be able to create and administrate immunities in such a way that there are proper IC reasons for someone to be immune to an effect.
*My memory isn't perfect, and no ruleset will cover everything - the system needs to be self-coherent so that I can extrapolate the current rules to arbitrary new situations. It would be nice if, in most cases, this extrapolation was sufficiently obvious that all the refs came up with the same ruling independently.
