Right, well, it's almost always going to be cheaper to buy something from online, but sometimes you are going to need whatever you need *Right NOW damnit!*, so where can you buy stuff in Cambridge?
Raw Materials
- John Lewis - St Andrew's Street/Grand? Arcade - Fabric, haberdashery and various oddments
- Sew Creative - Sewing shop on King Street. They sell sewing machines, quilting fabrics, and a good selection of buttons, cords and twiddly bits.
- B&Q - rope, chain, isoflex, random metal bits.
- Mackay's - East Road - Hardware store, useful for tools to make kit with.
- Ryman's - Sidney Street - Parchment paper suitable for printing on
- Leather goods shop, Rose Crescent. Apparently sells some raw materials, too.
- Market Stall - there's a guy who sells fabric cheap (for Cambridge) - anyone know days?
Clothes
- Charity shops - Burleigh street has many in a stort stretch, there are others elsewhere - Whatever you happen to find
- Market Stalls - There's one that sells stuff made from hemp, and a couple of alt/hippy ones
- Army & Navy Store - Regent street, just past Wetherspoons - gloves, boots
- Pufferfish- I will make pretty much anything clothes-wise - best thing to do is prod me at an interactive so I can show you examples... It should be noted that unlike Catfish, Dogfish, Strange Fish etc, Pufferfish is a person and not a shop or chain
- Open Air - Green Street. Boots, walking socks (also camping gear, for event larping).
- Costume / Fancy dress shop - Milton road, which is (kinda) just past Staples if coming from town - Dunno if it's any good
- Went in once, wasn't impressed. Might have some useful stuff by chance, though. --I
- Nomads - Middle Eastern/Asian? shop on King's Parade, selling clothes, jewellery, homeware etc. Pricey but authentic.
Accessories
- Market stalls - Hardware stall sells Marksman knives, which are fine for IC eating
- Art and Craft Markets - Fisher Hall on Saturday, there's one just outside John's on Mon-Sat, town centre on Sunday - IC pottery, jewellery and generic tat.
- Tindalls - Kings Street - Art shop. Sealing wax and seals, IC pens, paper etc., also usually a small stock of Snazz
- Paperchase - On the marketplace - IC pens, notebooks etc.
- Collage (formerly Magic Joke shop) - Bridge St - Shiny tat, also Snazaroo facepaints, pointy ears and other prosthetics, fake blood, wigs, pirate accessories, fancy dress costumes, halloween gear (in season) and other such props.
- Party Mania - Burleigh Street - pretty much the same stuff as above, also occasionally useful for ribbon, feathers etc.
All of the above(ish)
- Wardrobe - costume and fancy dress hire shop on Cromwell Road - Lots of props and accessories, some raw materials particularly fun fur, sequins etc. Notable for stocking Grimas facepaints, mastix etc.
