Songs/BurningBridges

I believe this tune was originally an instrumental in the song "Burning Bridges" by a band called Dire Straights or Status Quo or something like that; it's used as a playout polka by Peeping Tom. I think it would work very well with words set to it as a TT song.

I'm trying to find the music for the second half of the second third, and the third third - I hope to put them up shortly. Here's an ABC for what I already know, you can play it out at http://www.concertina.net/tunes_convert.html although you'll have to copy it from the edit page, not the frontpage, because ABC notation and wiki format interact in odd ways...

Lyricwise, the reason I like it is because the A music will highlight a clever rhyme at the end of a line nicely:

There used to be a pirate lass, she seemed a thoroughly dodgy sort, She founded the traders' union, and turned out to worship Vivamort.

[Chorus]

Dee dum dee dum, dee dum dee dum, dee dum dee diddle a Pyrokin, Dee dum dee diddly dee dum dee dee, dee dum dee dee dee parafin!

[Chorus]

I hope these demonstrate the priniciple, although obviously they need work to transmute them into usable verses (and I'm proud of both the rhymes). --Jacob
