Marrick is the squire of Sir Ulfred, a would be mallanite paladin who has so far completely failed at the spritual awakening lark, and had Opinions about everything. He is the youngest of three sons of a slightly down on their luck noble family, who, when the knight came talking, were more that happy to send their youngest son (age 10) off to be this knight's page (to be fair he really was a bit annoying), and soon, after the ...unfortunate... incident with the original squire, he became a Squire. This was not the glamourous work he had expected... or even that noble. I mean what's so wonderful about hauling a drunk knight out of trouble or waiting around while he visits the launderessess? 10 years on he had still not become a knight, but he will, and he will have Honour and actually follow the codes of Honour given to him by Sir Ulfred to the letter.
Unfortunately for Marrick he has had the misfortune to wind up short, looking rather too young for his age and a bit girly. He resents this hugely.
Marrick is shiny, righteous and bold, also has some form of honour and stuff. And sane. Completely sane.
Marrick was the illegitimate half brother of Rosamund, which he didn't deny, and a light mage, which he did.
Being under the Midwife Moon Curse he wandered off on Midwife Moon and in the final encounter against the midwife decided to be a Big Damn Hero, ran up to him and overcast Dazzle, dying Heroically.
