The Wargaming And Roleplaying Society, WARSP, is based out of Aberysteyht university, in mid-Wales. Its the system that introduced me to Larp, so forgive me if I gush.

It runs linears weekly, interactives weekly, and occasional weekend events, usually about once a year. Warps capitilises on the surrounding countryside, using a wooded hillside with adjacent fields for most of its linears.

Been going for about 12 years now, with a fairly complex game-world, set in and around the city-state of Abberddu, but with the whole planet mapped. The players are mainly students, with many other old gamers who've stayed in the area, and visitors.

The system is roughly level based, as with TT. Hits are multiple hpl, with ablative armour. Spellcasting uses mana points, and it's impossible to overcast. There are quite a few classes of mage, as well as a pantheon of priests. There are a wide variety of races, each with their own advantage and disadvantage, some with height restrictions. Classes are the standard fantasy bunch.

Linears are run with a player ref and a monster ref, with the monster crew carrying around a first aid kit and a large make-up kit, monster weaponry bag, and monster kit bag. Which can be exhausting.

WARPS also uses a save system. PCs (and monsters) start with a few saves (letters, e.g. SIQDA). Hostile spells, poisons, potions, etc call a save, either preset or out of a small deck of marked cards. Which means that the fighter could soak the fireball, and be blinded by the flash. The looking up a save can slow down some fights, though. Extra saves are purchased with xp, and several characters have got to the point where little affects them.

Character advancement is somewhat complex. Each class can buy nearly every skill, but it varies in price from class to class. E.g. health levels for a mage cost 5, then 10, then 15, and so on. But for the warrior, they cost 3, 6, 9, etc. Multiclassing is common, although the initial xp cost is doubled, then tripled, etc, for each extra class. So the mage/warrior could buy health as mage for 5/10/15, or as warrior for 6/9/12. There is a tendancy for the higher level PCs to drift towards warrior mage.

Xp is awarded by linear, with up to 20 for each PC, and up to 5 for each monster, depending on performance. Also on interactives, up to 5, depending on performance. Which can be a little harsh on the quiet ones, and requires all the spending of xp to be done in front of the refs, after they've marked up how much each PC gets on the character sheets, which are kept in the refs possession.

Monsters - The PCs are usually predetermined, with a slot or two available to whoever has a good IC reason to play spare. And the monsters are everyone else.
