2/8/10 Collecting ideas and character concepts for the currently un-named persian group heading out from Cambridge to the first Odyssey.
I was thinking of a religious group, which doesn't need to have a warleader character. The idea was for us to be a contigent from one of the religeons, able to prowl around, investigate the other persian groups, and then declare "Ah-hah, YOU have earnt the favour of (God), and we will assist you!". And thus bolt our minigroup onto another one, in a perfectly IC manner.
While we're unlikely to have a uniform, an approximate colour scheme would be nice. Just on the basis of gear currently owned or expected to be used, I was thinking red/orange/gold.
Looking down the gods list, I'm tempted by any of the top 3, particularly Mithras (I'm not calling him Amitra, I'll keep mispronouncing it) or Marduk. The colour scheme would support this :)
Garuda
Character concepts...
Garuda will be playing Mazriim, a Champion. In scale armour, with a long sword and targe, for fighting sword and buckler, or 2 handed.
SevenSecrets has booked as Asha, a Philosopher and expert physician. Aiming for what Garuda describes as 'Mk. 1 motherly cleric'; calm, friendly, vaguely maternal.
Zebbie has booked as a Priest, Jemdet Nasr. My kit is based on white, navy blue and possibly purple, at present, as I wasn't aware we were having a colour scheme....
:Colour scheme was a random idea, in case people hadn't got stuff yet. I was just looking for something to tie the group together visually. I wonder if we have appropriate sashes or something in the armoury... (Garuda)
However, I won't be coming to Odyssey 1 after all, as I did not get as far in my thesis as I wanted to by Sunday night and so I think it will be a lot more sensible for me to use the time next weekend on that (given it is due in in three weeks....) and come to Event 2 (when I can also concentrate on prep of kit etc more). Porange would like to come as a priest, and wear lots of layers of organza and do inadvised things if the pace gets a bit slow.

The Seekers (seeking the next Shah-en-shah? no folk music pls)
- I'd rather not be "the Seekers" as Seekers are strongly a religion in TT for me. (Zebbie)
Anointed (it's a temple group, blessed and sent as representatives of a great religon)
Eyes of Mithras (or whatever, obviously. Observing, watching, participating, and so on. Which of the Persian Kings is honourable enough for our support?)
Hierodules (which I believe means temple servants. Which would be appropriate.)

This group is now known and booked as the Eyes of Marduk. We will find the greatest king of persia at the annual, and support his bid to become Shah-en-shah, as the gods will!

So, post-event. We're all alive, and we have been working very closely with the Eyes of Darius (OOC, it's a group of people we know fairly well through Maelstrom, who happen to include a load of the Insurrection team). Are we interested in a group merge, at least from the PoV? of the OOC administration, tentage, food, etc? Personally, I'm well up for it. Wotcha think? --I
Sounds reasonable to me, although I'm not sure we should amalgamate the groups IC. Until the Eyes of Marduk take a few more character deaths, at least. -Garuda

The Eyes of Marduk will be rolling along to the next event. People booked to the best of my knowledge are Kiyah, Inq, Garuda, Sevensecrets and Zebbie.
Unsure about Porange, or anyone else.
Group concept remains that:
The temples of Persia have sent several representatives to the gathering of peoples, to support and observe the Shahs in this bubbling cauldron of competition. To see which is worthy of the temples' support, and which are impious opportunists.
Thus we can continue cycling folk through, not knowing each other very well, and so on.

There is also the Blades of Palmyra, who have survived despite expectations to the contray. Probably the 3rd largest group in Persia, contains Drac as Jamsheed the immortal. Have gained imfamy for championing the darker side of persias Gods (and winning), so lots of opportunities for conflict of all sorts. Voted most hospitable group by King Minas and his Champion last event.
Currently recruiting for all roles: we have no philosphers and can always use more champions.
