What would happen if we:
- Gave all starting characters 6/4 hits.
- Made health etc grant +3/2.
- Multiplied the values of all healing and hits buffs by 2.
- Rewrote the Red magic tree (which I think needs doing anyhow), and possibly smite body.
- Adjusted linear statting accordingly.
Why do I propose this? Well, I would find statting linears easier if the default increment of damage were smaller, and this seems a better way of doing it that introducing a "1/4" damage call. I also like the idea of increasing the effectiveness of combat healing, and of decreasing the effectiveness of DD and of armour/DAC, and the frequency of limb loss.
Almost certainly not worth the effort, but it came to me last night and I thought I'd put it up and see what people thought. --Jacob
- I have a few concerns about this. Firstly, higher numbers are harder to count, and a fair few people already find combat hit-counting an inexact science. Secondly, limb loss is one of the few system-relevant consequences that can happen to a PC right now. Reducing the effectiveness of limb sniping in combat is an interesting one, but in actuality I reckon it will make fights less fun; PCs on one leg/with one arm left happen a lot and tend to add to the atmosphere of a hard fight. Also it only encourages you to go for the next-easiest location to drop: the head (no-one wears helmets for some reason). Combat healing being more effective I'm unsure is needed, similarly I don't think DD is too good. I like the per-encounter resources model of DAC and armour personally, but I agree that they are very strong. -TheKremlin
