- I... I had a brother and two sisters. I don't know if they're all still alive, though - I haven't seen them for more than a decade.

- 28

- 5 foot 11.

- Of course.

- I wouldn't wish that on anyone, let alone someone I loved.

- Goes misty-eyed. Yes, I have a foster-son.

- I tend to eat too fast for it to matter much. My son likes chicken, though.
9. Have you killed anyone?
- I used to keep track of all the people I've killed, and pray to St John for them all individually to atone for it. Nowadays, there are just too many of them, though.

- Yes. Yes, I'm afraid I do.
11. Do you love anyone?
- My son matters more to me than my life. I would die for him, and I would betray everything I have ever stood or worked for for him in a heartbeat.

- I... I try and ensure the safety of the city and its populace as best as I can. I guess I'm a semi-professional busybody. I'm an apprentice at the Brown College, too.

- If you're asking about my sexual preference, then the answer is that it's sadly academic. I don't have time for that sort of thing.
14. What do you do to relax?
- There's an implicit assumption in that question... I love spending time with my son, though, although he's at an age where I'm not sure it could be called relaxation.

- Are they breaking a law? If not, there's nothing I can do.

- I would hope I'd have the courage not to burden them with that.
17. What do you regret most in life?
- How long have you got? I regret that Robert Cranford was flogged to death because of me. I regret helping cause the famine of '77 in Cotsford. I regret the stoning of Andrew of Crofter. I regret letting my father rape poor little Emily Cooper. I regret that I got Claire's entire family tortured to death, and that I got Lady Boule-Hiovard killed, and the massacre at my tower. I regret failing to catch the serial killer who murdered Major Major. I regret that everything I've ever set my hand to, I've made worse than it was before. Except possibly my son. Possibly. So I guess the answer is "Everything except him".
18. Do you like your maker?
- I am responsible for who I am, and no, I don't. Other than me, the person who influenced me most was my father, and I despise him nearly as much as I despise myself.

- (Immediately, without thought)Losing my son. (Pause). Many things. Death. Doing the wrong thing, and others suffering because of it. Pain. Damnation. But harm to my son most of all.

- Yes, I have an elder brother, called Roger. He takes life a bit too seriously, but we get on well.

- 26

- I'm six foot, give or take. More in boots and a hat, though.

- Yes, I've never found the right woman.

- When I was in Gaul I got to eat boiled horse. That was surprisingly nice.

- I've been a soldier. I've killed lots of men. I've never killed anyone who wasn't trying to kill me in a fair fight, though.

- No, I'm a Blatant Agent. Keeping secrets as a Humacti is hard.

- My parents, and my brother.

- I serve my God & my Honour first and my King second. When those don't demand my time, I'm a craftsman. Possibly one of the finest in the city. I can make anything from armour to xylophones, given the materials and perhaps a dry run or two. Is there anything I can make for you?

- Girl, definately.
14. What do you do to relax?
- Paint, sculpt or carve to relax my mind. Pray to relax my body and soul.

- I don't know. Ask me again if it iever happens.

- Becoming a priest. I'd make the same decision again, though.

- I am a maker, but so far as I know I was born, not made.

- The truth becoming known. Finding that, at the pinch, I'm not brave enough to act with honour. Also, Francis McDee?. The man carries a pestle and mortar around with him. This worries me.

- Who, me? Oh, er, I was Brother Gilbert of Seeker, Librarian-at-Arms. Pleased to meet you.

- I don't know, I'm afraid - I was a foundling. There were lots of other orphans in the Temple of Seeker, if that counts?

- I was 27 when I died.

Five foot, eleven and three quarter inches.

- Blushes No.

- Ariane Tallis as was, Dr Ariane Tallis McDee? as is.

- No. Um. No. I sired a son, but we never met. He has another father now and he's better off that way. I wouldn't lay any claim to him, even if I could - my memory will not stand him in good stead.

- I'm a ghost. I don't eat. Even when I was alive, I never paid much attention to food, though, I'm afraid - I usually read through meals, or just forgot to have them.

- A lot of people on purpose, and a few by accident.

- Yes. Even now.

- I was a Librarian at Arms at the Church of Seeker. I served on the applied abjuration task force, I helped with filing, and I tried to understand how the world worked.

- The only person I ever loved was female.

- The universe is far too fascinating a place to waste time.

- Grins Actually, she knew and I didn't. Eventually she more or less told me.
