Lucius Peters, Paladin of St. John, R.I.P.

The second son of his parents, Lucius was born in Grantabrugge from the marital union of a Paladin Knight of Humact and a Priestess of St. John. His Romish name stems from a lasting friendship between his father and the Dwarves. At the age of eleven or twelve, he and his family moved to Oxford due to the calls of his father's duty. After coming of age, he enlisted in the army. An able recruit, he soon found himself a junior officer in his unit, posted on the northern borders. Another half-year saw him transferred to the field medical unit, where he learnt basic first aid. With his unit encamped near Grantabrugge en route to Gaul a few months later, he received word that he had been granted 'indefinite leave', attributed to an administrative error. Finding himself therefore in his former home town, he recalled the words of his former commanding officer: "If you ever find yourself at a loose end in Grantabrugge, try the Wessex Arms..."

So this is where he turned up the next night, and found the situation to be rather different to the Grantabrugge of his youth. For a start, things were a lot quieter back then; a lot more... normal.

When he arrived, he still wasn't sure where he stood spiritually, after his somewhat mixed upbringing. Talking with Sesqui, however, caused him to think more about such matters than he used to, and possibly as a result of this he started doing volunteer duty at the temple of St. John. His whole spiritual outlook changed, however, when St. John spoke to him directly in the Wessex Arms after one of the undead attacks, working through his own hands to miraculously heal another patron who had fallen in the encounter. He has now joined the Church of St. John, where he works part-time in the casualty unit and part-time on the temple guard.

He was transferred "up north" to Yorvik in the summer of '89, but still passed through occasionally. Back in Grantabrugge during the spring and early summer of '91, he seemed to be spending an increasing amount of time with a certain Nell Farley, a talented surgeon and newly-awakened priestess of St. John. Having been back up in Yorvik for a month over the summer, he's now back in Grantabrugge full-time, although he tends to be busy or away on Friday evenings and Saturdays.

At Lucie's party on the 20th of September 1291, he became engaged to Nell, which may or may not have come as a surprise to some people. They were married on the 14th of November the same year. Their twin daughters Sarah and Miriam were born on the 31st of July 1292.

And finally, on the 6th of March 1293, he set out on an ill-fated quest to gather the components required to create an artificial heart to save Rosamund's life. He never returned, having been brutally betrayed by two of his companions. But his soul was saved from an eternity of torture at the hands of Arioch by his wife's ultimate sacrifice, and they are now at rest, together, on the plane of St. John.

And so the last page is written, and the book is closed.
