Dot's Playlist

Note: Many of the lyrics I link to here are wrong, or at least not what I hear when I listen to the songs.

Chargen

I associate these tunes with Dot's chargen, because they are in some ways appropriate but mostly because they were on the radio a lot that summer.

[Paper Planes] by MIA
Subterfuge and being a bit evil.

[Rockstar] by Nickelback
Mostly associated with aliasing and trying to get involved with the Temple of Sordan in Grantabrugge.

General Music

[Dirty Little Secret] by the All American Rejects.
This song was associated with quite a few people over Dot's life, and has some nicely appropriate lyrics.

When we live such fragile lives,
It's the best way we survive.
I go around a time or two,
Just to waste my time with you.
Tell me all that you've thrown away...
Find out games you don't wanna play...

[She's Always a Woman] by Billy Joel
Despite the slightly ironic title, a very appropriate song!

[Bitch] by Meridith Brooks.
This song is embarassingly appropriate, especially the end of the last chorus:

When you're hurt, when you suffer,
I'm your angel under cover!
I've been numbed, I'm revived,
Can't say I'm not alive!
You know I wouldn't want it any other way!

[Party Hard] by Andrew WK.
First verse - Doing day to day housework, wearing fingers to the bone
Second verse - Going out as Briar
Chorus - Londinian Sordanite Parties in the Good Old Days

[Plug in Baby] by Muse is appropriate in parts!

[Fat Lip] by Sum41 although the lyrics seem to be quite a bit different to what I think they are.

[Danger! High Voltage!] By Electric Six
Just for the music, not really the words.

Spiritual Awakening

[Still Alive] by GLaDOS?.
There's really nothing more perfect for being awakened to the god of pain while having your soul set on fire in the world's largest ritual site under the effects of a miracle that prevents you dying. I imagine the background movie for this song as Dot, Nocta and Verity writhing on the ground screaming "SORDAN!" and the words appearing in subtitles underneath, with specific lines for specific characters.

As we burned, it hurt because
I was so happy for you!

Blackthorn and Briar? That was a joke -HAHA, fat chance!

Now this preservation gives a wonderful time,
And it works on Arcadia and it works on The Prime...

Verity and the Temple of Sordan

[Hotel California] by the Eagles

We're living it up at the Temple of Lord Sordan...
Who would ever guess? (Who would ever guess?)
When your alias.........

Argus

[Goodbye Mr. A] by the Hoosiers
Did actually become very appropriate towards the end.

[Want you Bad] by The Offspring

Original Motivations on Argus

[All the she wants] by the Ace of Bass.

It's not a day for work,
It's a day for catching tan!

Birth of Baby Blake

[[Sleep]] by My Chemical Romance

Argus on getting a letter about Blake's Birth (as Dot imagines it.)

[Spare Me the Details] by The Offspring

My Girlfriend, my secret Sord'nite,
Told me she was pregnant just the other day.
But six months later, after a little favour,
She was in a bargain with an undead fae...

also /s /"play-by-play" /"plague I played"

Baby Blake

[Magic Dance] by David Bowie. And the film Labyrinth in general.

[Newborn] by Muse.

The Sluagh

[Blood] by My Chemical Romance

A celebrated girl with baby oni;
They can fix me proper with a bit of luck!
The Seelie and the Sluagh all adore me so,
But it's really quite alarming, cause I'm such an awful...

[Welcome to the Black Parade] by My Chemical Romance
For leaving the Prime behind and become more of a servant of the Sluagh. Also for Ultimate Faith:

On and on we carry through the fears!
Disappointed faces of your peers!
Take a look at me,
Cause I cannot carry on!

Do or die! You'll never make me!
Because the world, shall never take my heart-
Though you try, you'll never break me,
We want it all, we wanna play this part-
I won't explain, or say I'm sorry,
I'm unashamed, I'm gonna show my scar
Give a cheer, for all the broken,
listen here, because it's who we are!

The tune of [Kara Remembers] from Battlestar Galactica also reminds me of the Sluagh.

Proper Aliasing

[Never gonna find me] by The Offspring

Granta-Blake / Epilogue

[In this City] by Iglu and Hartley

Almost all appropriate in context.

You came in to my life-
You cannot separate yourself.

[The Land of Make-Believe] by Bucks Fizz

Alter-Ego-Argus

[This Could be Love] by Alkaline Trio

Probably sung by Dot.

Zebbie subsequently added: "Scissor Sisters - She's My Man" (for post-3ygb) and "Rihanna - S&M" (in general) as further playlist suggestions.
