A list of games which, IMO, are good. And should be played. Mostly single player RPGs because that's my video game flavour.
Free:
- Tales of the Drunken Paladin- an RPGmaker RPG in which Anebriate, a paladin who uses beer instead of healing potions, tries to find out why he's forgotten everything, who burnt Larry's tavern down, why the Save Hobo dislikes him, and what the misogynistic cardinal sidekick is up to. -- Ivan
- Kanye Qest 3030. Another RPG maker RPG. This one is finishable within two hours. Which is good because the combat isn't why you're playing a game where Kanye West goes on a Kanye Quest. -- Ivan
- Dwarf Fortress - "The main game is Fortress mode , which plays like a dizzyingly complex hybrid of Dungeon Keeper and The Sims, if all your little people were manic-depressive alcoholics." http://www.bay12games.com/dwarves/ http://dwarffortresswiki.org/ --Hark
- http://transcendence.kronosaur.com/ - It's like Asteroids and Nethack had a baby, and it got into a spaceship and shot nuclear missiles and lightning guns at space pirates. --Jim
- Battle for Wesnoth - Really really good hex-tile turn based RPG. --Jim
- Eversion - "Sounds, possibly musical, heard in the night from other worlds or realms of being." A cutesy platformer in the vein of Super Mario, which takes some hours to finish. Under no circumstances play alone at night. --Nyeti
- OFF - Trended around tumblr for a bit; a rather good RPGmaker game with an interesting, slightly creepy story, and good gameplay. Fairly short, but entertaining. http://forum.starmen.net/forum/Fan/Games/OFF-by-Mortis-Ghost -- Hobnoblin
- The Stanley Parable Demonstration - Free on steam. Will last you half an hour - Ahdok
- That was a unique experience well worth my time. --Ivan
- Dhux's Scar. An RPG maker game which, well... to put it mildly, has a plot which blew my mind whilst also being a good challenge. For most of the game you play a merchant, a mercenary and a little girl. And for once they're actually statted as such. -- Ivan
(Dirt) Cheap:
- The Zeboyd games (in chronological order Breath of Death VII, Cthulhu Saves The World, and Penny Arcade's on the Rainslick Precipice of Darkness 3 & 4) RPGs which can only be called retro because they use the same methods, but which tend to lose all the personal grievances I have towards the older games. Seriously, I played CSTW and haven't stopped playing their games- I finished Penny Arcade 4 instead of revising for the Steeplechase it's so awesome. --Ivan
Moderate:
- Planescape: Torment. My description will not do this RPG justice. -- Ivan
- FTL - Top down space-sim roguelike with intense combat and insane replay value. Good value for money at ~£7 on steam. --Hark
- Having bought this game, I thoroughly agree that it is more than worth the money. -- Ivan
- Revenge of the Titans. Retro-tastic tower defence game full of shiny lasers, more dakka and Very British Humour. £6.99, Steam. --Jim
Kickstarter Plugs
- Cosmic Star Heroine. Finished.

- Sorry, didn't notice the rooting of the page. I can shift stuff over to my own page if you would prefer? --Hark
- I think having stuff on one page is preferable, and I like df. It's just when someone adds a game I hate I'd prefer it was attributed to them :) -- Ivan
My Steam username contains the parts "why" "do" "i" and "bover" connected without spaces -- Ivan
