I think this is a very cool idea, and should therefore be run at some point.
Iceland was full. No land worth living on, no freedom any more, just wealthy godar with too much power. Then Eirik told you of Greenland, far to the west, and you came to make a new life again. But Greenland is frozen, dark, and hostile. You can live here, but life is hard. And now Bjarni Herjolfsson is talking of a land he saw further to the west, with fields of wheat and grapes on the vine for the taking.
This is a one-shot game in Sagas of the Icelanders, following members of the Vinland expedition as they attempt to make a life for themselves, thousands of miles from their own countries.
Date and Time not yet decided. I'm thinking mid-march, if people who are interested provide suggestions that's probably ideal. --Tea

I'm planning to run on the weekend of the 8th. Currently undecided between Saturday and Sunday, potentially starting on Saturday and then finishing up Sunday. SotI? is set up so that you typically want several 'sessions' even if you're just doing a one-shot game, so having a pause overnight isn't inherently a problem. This is the weekend of the Cambridge Living History Fair, so that's a semi-clash.
Location will be Glitterhaus.
If you're interested in playing, put a note below, or drop me a line on IRC or email. I'm cool with up to four or five players, I think.
Bother - I'd like to play this but I'm player-eventing that weekend. --ChessyPig
What tone are you aiming for? What you describe could cover anything from bleak, gritty survivalism set against an uncaring, primitive, brutal society, to rip-roaring comedy viking adventures with horned helmets, herring-quaffing and bad accents, to high-concept storybook adventures about the relation between reality and myth, to anything in between. Any of which could potentially be a lot of fun, but you *really* don't want different players aiming for different ones in the same game. Rule 1 of successful and harmonious roleplaying is "make sure everyone has agreed beforehand what sort of game this is, what they want to get out of it, and what the game contract is". --Jacob
