It's best if you can get your present to your person annonymously. Passing it through an intermediary or posting it are my favourite solutions. I am happy to be intermediary for anyone.
I recommend marking your present with a secret santa tag inside the package - so your person knows it's a secret santa gift. Otherwise they might end up wondering where it went.
Your target is not your Santa, although the graph is a connected one. (therefore work the gifts are arranged in a circle.) - I also tried to avoid people giving presents to people they'd be giving a present to anyway.

This is the page onto which we're organising the CUTT Secret Santa 2010.
The idea is simple. Everyone puts their names in a hat. Everyone gets a name. You get a christmas present for the named person.
There are 12 people taking part.
For buying a present, look to spend around £10, or make something from around £5 worth of raw materials. If you want to go overboard, that's fine, but it's your choice.
Really really try and get the present to your person by Christmas. That's the point :)

Ideally, I'd like your name, anything you particularly want to avoid getting as a present, and an address to send things to. Any other details you think are pertinent (such as "I have a rabid intense fear of the colour green) would also be helpful.
