A friend of mine, who you may have met at the last interactive of the year (loud, long curly hair, played a kender and then a French seller) and his mates are developing a new system.

If you're interested in attending, please leave your name here:

It's a Steampunk larp, Swords, nerf & mad science! We're doing the playtest in Cambridge, on Saturday the 6th of October. We're still finalising game mechanics and the wiki for the system will be up within the week.

We'll be on site (wherever in Cambridge that turns out to be be, still sorting venue) from 10, and hoping to time in from 11-4 with a lunch break. I'll post the full details in a week.

Here's a bit of gameworld background to pique your interest!

Welcome to 1937, a few months before the historic 100th year of Queen Victoria's reign, and the Jubilee celebration is eagerly anticipated by most of her subjects, even if she hasn't been seen in public for 30 years, and there are strange rumours of robotic implants and that she can no longer leave the throne…

There is threat to her reign, George V is a guerilla warfare activist, unhappy at the prospect of being the eternal heir apparent, as his father is, the would-be Edward VII.

Science has moved on apace, but is different to in our world, effectively anything discovered in the 20th century does not exist, there is no nuclear power, the atom is indivisible. Evolution follows Lamarckian rather than Darwinian lines. Steam-power is king and the only internal combustion engines are rare and clunky things.

Various sciences have blossomed, however! The discovery of the remarkable Chronophage insect has worked wonders to the science of time-travel, and electrical technologies are very advanced, mainly due to the efforts of Sir Nickola, (a naturalised British subject) but in a somewhat different way to our own.

As a comment, this is a clash with Death unto Darkness and Ornithocracy, which between them will be eating quite a few people who would otherwise be interested. However, there also are no particularly better days to schedule it. --Tea (Clash, sadface. --I)

This happened, it was different, it was interesting, it has potential for hilarious unethical steampunk science. It also highlighted some of the other larpers in the cambridge area, will be trying to keep in touch --Drac
