I'd quite like to run a friendly poker game every 1-2 months.
Game is texas holdem with a £5 buy-in. This means that you buy £5 worth of chips at the beginning of the night, and any time you lose all your chips you can buy in again for another £5. At the end of the night you cash out your chips for winnings.
It means that even if you went a bit crazy you didn't lose too much, yet it is just enough to make you think about your moves. My worst losses (and I lost big) were less than a few rounds of drinks had I gone out into manchester instead.
This is strictly social poker - which means all skill levels, lower in fact is better, and it is more about having a good time with your friends than winning vast sums of money. There will be takeout, beer and poker into the wee small hours.
