In the beginning...

I can hook you up with the answer to your problems, sure. Just don't ask where it came from, and don't try and haggle on the price...

In his youth, Theobald was an adventurer, and a member of the Guild of Antiquarians. He looted and traded with the best of them, and it was while working with them that he met Charmian Gaveson (Rosemary's Antiquarian), and they fell in love, and were married. Eventually, though, it got a little ... stale. They argued, they fought, he left and she ended it, and they're still not really quite sure whose fault it was in the first instance. It was a bit of a wake-up call for Theo, and he found that his heart wasn't in the life of an Antiquarian any more, and maybe it hadn't been for some time.

Nowadays, he's a little older and wiser, and more level-headed, and works for the Hegemony. They gave him a place to be and something to believe in when he needed to stop travelling and settle down, and he won't forget that easily. He ... finds things. Things that people want. Sometimes, things people don't know they want. If you've got a problem, chances are he can get you a solution that fits, just don't ask too many questions about it.

The District of West Casterborough appointed him to the Portal, and who's he to say no? And when he got to the camp a couple of nights ago, there was a familiar face across the room: Charmian Gaveson. Eyes met, eyebrows rose, and the two of them had a little ... chat in a corner. Friends are rare in places like this, and they reckon that co-operating beneath the surface could be beneficial for both of them, and their backers. Let the rest of the camp believe the fighting, the constant bickering and the arguments whenever they're within arm's reach of each other. It's all just a front: they're working, at least in part, together.

Paradigm

At system end...

The spirit is willing, but the flesh, the flesh is weak. Ah, but the flesh can be replaced...

At the final interactive of NFNC, Theo left play to return to the Hegemony and try to purge it of the Fire Mage threat. He had replaced his left arm with a talismanic focus that allowed him to wind up (but not cast) spells using his arm as a focus, rather than having to hold one. He also replaced his heart with a talismanic device that would detect him starting to bleed to death, and automatically activate whichever minor talisman was socketed into it at the time (normally a CURE 3, for get-out-of-trouble purposes). This latter moves blood round his body as his old one did, but means that he no longer has a discernable heartbeat. Accusations of heartlessness have been levelled, but tend to be received... poorly.
