At the interactive on the 3rd of Feb 2012, he burst out of the Wessex Arms ritual circle accompanied by a massive blast of magical power. Since the denizens of the Arms are friendly, open people and don't naturally assume that people delivered with a bang are out to get them, he was healed up and spent the evening trying to work out where he was, what had happened and why everyone wasn't speaking Slavic.
A few weeks later, he took a bit of a jaunt off the Prime and went wandering with Psaph and some regulars from the bar, just to see if we could figure out what was causing paraelemental planes to collide so much. We think we may have succeeded...
Some time after that, his wife [Alisa] arrived, having walked from Wallachia to somewhere, anywhere that didn't contain the ruins of her life and her dead husband. Narrative imperative being what it is, she walked into the Wessex Arms, and was .... eventually happy to see him. After the flames had gone out, anyway.
Then, well, it got complicated. The oni Fractus was trying to create a Grey Plane by colliding paraelemental planes in the high reaches of reality, and thus trying to become an Elemental Lord, of sorts. The quest for power, a classic oni goal. At the same time, the First of the Dwarves became more active, and Alexei became aware of them. It was never really the plan, but when Alexei and a band of other apprentices went to drive Fractus away from the new plane it had created, the party ended up calling on the Dwarves for backup, and they ... came.
And took up residence on that plane, in Fractus' place. Are they now Elemental Lords? Who knows? Time will tell. Either way, the Warlocks' Guild of Grantabrugge looked rather poorly on his choice not to stop them, and executed him for it.
