OrphansOfOrmek/RunningOnThursdays

Assuming we change TT for something else, I've been wondering if we could run it on Thursdays.

This has some advantages from my perspective:

We'd probably get more regular people and fewer irregular people who come down to visit. This is both good and bad.

Anyway, here's the place to have a say about it if you have an opinion:

I think it's about equal to Fridays, not a constitutional matter, and therefore pretty much a "the exec and refteam may decide". From my own perspective Thursdays are busy, but that thing is movable, and in general they're safer. --Tea
As a graduate living outside Cambridge and visiting periodically, a change to Thursdays would make participation rather more difficult for me, but I recognise that it'd be easier for many current students and residents - who are, after all, the main point of the society. (When I was a student, I had events for other societies on both Thursdays and Fridays so I'm not sure whether it would have made much difference to me.) --Nyeti
I like it as it opens up Fridays, when other things happen, to such an extent. I think that it would make TT a more viable option for people with other commitments, which I think is a good thing as it might let us catch people who might not be able to larp otherwise? Vague and rambly, sorry --andy
The time people get to bed might also factor if it's wrapping up at 11 or so and people have jobs or 9am lectures on Friday. Wonder if there's any unified feeling on putting an extra day between interactive and linear (if the next system works that way.) SWATT runs on Thursday and I feel I would prefer Friday for various of the reasons above. --Chevron
Some people have 9am lectures on Saturday too... (though admittedly fewer) --Pufferfish
And a good fraction said people would then have two more mornings of early getting up after "mid-week" late night. --Chevron
I am more or less neutral as I have lectures both Friday and Saturday. I would mildly prefer Thursdays for reasons of other things that keep trying to happen on Fridays. --Jewelcast
I would be in favor of Thursday interactives, but this is due to the fact that I currently do a lot of weekend travelling leaving on Friday and this would up my interactive attendance count from ~4-6 a term to the full 8. --Hark

Functionally I think you could run on Thursdays if you were prepared to finish an hour earlier because of the existence of work/lectures on friday mornings. Obvious con - your interactive becomes shorter. On the other hand I find interactives frequently drag so if 'shorter more intense' ones were available I'd probably be more interested.
(Side note - 'the people who need to can just leave early' argument kind of fails unless all OOC annoncements get moved to start of the interactive and there is basically a guarentee that the linear recruitment will get run in the first half because excluding people from those is an absolutely terrible plan.)
Final note as someone who gets up at 6:30 on weekdays I may be slightly biased in the not wanting a late night on Thursdays so feel free to ignore me as my investment in tt is low. Additionally my brain also prefers 'larp is a weekened thing' because I kind of like that compartmentalization of larp away from real life. --Malselene
As an undergrad I probably would nto have been able to larp if it ran thursday evenings, owing to supervisions, early lectures and deadlines - Porange
I have been occasionally annoyed that LARP clashes with social things on Fridays meaning I can't do both, but I also like having it on a Friday to keep it away from the rest of the week and have it not clash with things. I'd be in favour of shorter interactives if it did run in the week. --Hobnoblin
I would have no problem with finishing at 10. --dp
I appreciate that I am an outlier, being further from town than most people, but I do tend to do a bit of a cost/benefit analysis of how much role playing I am going to get versus travel time. Thursdays and finishing earlier are both moderately big negatives for me. --TimB
