Tesja was abandoned at an early age. (Everyone say, "Ahhhh".) She grew up with the gutter cats in the northern cities of Teutonia, and, through her affinity with cats, became a servant of Bast. Having grown up avoiding any contact with humans that wanted to take her in and look after her, Tesja followed a calling from Bast to the shores of a strange and foreign land, looking for a city called "Grantabrugge" and a load of orcs...

Tesja is a wildcat. She's certainly not one of those lovely housecats. She doesn't like being tickled or petted, or, Bast forbid! molested by Vladimir.
