Bringing this page back to life for coordination purposes.

THE PLAN

A Kit Making Day with a leaning towards Leatherwork, at which people can come and engage in existing projects in a social manner, at which there may even be other people with experience at this riveting/sewing nonsense who can offer advice. Also feel free to bring crafts which are not kitmaking, such as drawing or knitting. Please do not bring crafts which are toxic or permanently staining without prior arrangement!

Some leather scraps may be available for making patchwork (contact Bryony in advance to confirm this if you are interested (NOTE I may well not be at leathermakingthingsday, so if you have not arranged in advance nothing will be sorted - Bryony), otherwise, bring your own materials. A limited selection of tools will be available, please bring more if you want anything particular or specific, or have any you don't mind sharing.

This will be held on Sunday, 7th February 2010, at 2 Weavers Field, Girton, CB3 0XB.

People should feel free to turn up from 10am. It is not guaranteed that all members of the Girtonhouse will be alert or present at this time, but at least one of us will be able to let you in and get things started. :)

There is a co-op nearby for Lunch Food, but feel free to bring yummy foods and drinks to share. Quiches, cheese and bread (puddings!) etc for a Shared Lunch certainly appeals to me :-)

There will be a Social Evening at the same location following Leathermaking Day, in which takeaway food is ordered in for tea and then non-craft based socialising commences. This could include some singstar, or not, depending what people feel like on the day. There will be a short Tidying Up interlude between the two events!

You can catch the Citi 6 to Girton, you will need to get off at the stop just after the bridge over the A14, and just after the CoOp? (on the opposite side of the road). Weavers field is the turning opposite the CoOp? just after the A14 bridge. The last Citi 6 is 6:30pm, there are intermittent busses back and forth through to the town centre after this (on the order of one every two hours). Zebbie may be persuadable to give one carload of lifts home after socialising in the evening but do not rely on this goodwill as your only plan, as taxis 2 miles to the city centre are not outrageously expensive between a group of people (and Zebbie may wish to consume alcohol whilst socialising or go to bed rather than drive).

___________________________________________________________________________________________________________

I have a lot of leather and leatherworking stuff. I am happy to bring a small selection of stuff to hand out (donations of food and drink appreciated) including scraps for patchwork. If you want actual leather, large amounts of something, or obscure things, please ask IN ADVANCE. The same goes for loans of tools beyond hole punches and eyelet setters. --Pufferfish
