Najar Bod-Dagon: A philosopher all in (more or less) white, commonly known as the most innocent of Carthaginians. This impression may or may not be entirely misguided.

Born as the third child of a priestess of Dagon, Najar was promised from birth to Grandfather. She was to be drowned ceremonially on her first birthday as a gesture of her mother's absolute devotion. But before that day came, her eldest brother fell from the decks of a ship beset by storms, and was lost to Dagon's watery embrace. Distraught, Najar's mother declared that grandfather had already claimed his third, and cancelled the planned sacrifice of her daughter. However, Najar was raised in the knowledge that she was living on borrowed time, and her life would someday be forfeit.

Extremely devout, dutiful and loyal, Najar is visibly cracking under the strain of living up to the world's expectations. At her first Annual she studied the art of alchemy from the Minoans and was granted the title of Alchemist. At the second Annual, despite spending hours upon end on the problems, she made no progress at all. Though the other students attempted to assure her that it was just because her problems were much harder than those set to the others, she took it personally. This is absolutely typical of her general outlook, emphasising her failures and overlooking her successes. She cries a lot, and is generally found teetering on the brink of a total nervous breakdown.

Despite all this, everyone seems to love her, and she has been described as a "symbol of unity" for Carthage, based partly upon her selfless devotion to her nation, and partly upon her lack of obvious loyalties, leading everyone to suspect she may be furthering someone else's political agenda. Most of this goes straight over her head.
