HowDoYouSeeX

Talking on #larp, we thought it would be interesting to try to see how people saw other characters, mainly IC. To forward this aim, this page was created- the idea is that you try to describe a character, past or present, in a short sentence. This page is for current PC (and NPCs) in regular play, there are more characters (retired, temporarily away, not around much, dead and everliving) on HowDidYouSeeX

Top Tip! If you're going to add your IC opinions to this page, you may wish to consider signing which character's perspective this is taken from, as otherwise it is likely to be less chest-burstingly hilarious in six months time when all context has been lost.

Darville

A true professional. Shows the correct level of calm in difficult circumstances - Benson
A contrast to his master. Appears calm, level-headed and practical with the efficiency of one sworn to his duty - Bathory
A touch of class in this entertaining little dive. Clearly a amusing person if he's looking for a new employer in the Wessex Arms. --Damien
Extremely polite and almost certainly a good match for my sister, as the fact she is, to be frank, Horrendous, only seemed to encourage him - Brother Florian
Seems nice enough, though I'm not quite sure what Florian intends by introducing us. He dresses far too nicely for someone. Definitely a city man. -Caprifolia

Meredith

What excellent manners- she is certainly appropriate company for my lady to keep. - Benson
Her continued frustration at the idiocy of some members of the arms is rather amusing. - Darville
Has pretty hair that goes boing! - Alferwen
Suspicious and wary, perhaps this is not illadvised - Bathory
One of the better people I've met. Far more forgiving of others than they are probably worth. --Imayn
My shoulder angel to counter Imayns mischief, and angel in other ways too. --Keshrel.
A good friend with a no-nonsense approach to life. Able to keep calm in the middle of a bloodshed. Could do with being a bit less alert, though. --Robin
Was taught about too much knowledge and not enough battle. Still she is pragmatic and keeps her head when trouble happens, an excellent example to the women of Wessex about what they should be. --Skord
nice to meet someone else with some sense in this mad place. Never stayed down, kept her head when we needed her to. I do not understand why she turned down promotion, but she can certainly achieve more. --Freki

Taf and Yarrow

Unrestrained chaos. Not people you want at your back, but they have their uses. --Ysmay
Taf is all grown up and skaveny and is probably one of those roll models for younger skaven *nods sagely* - Alferwen
Dangerous. More so, now they have the appearance of authority. -- Alexei
Psychotic and dangerous. --Meredith
Sometimes you've got to take risks to get anything done. They get a lot done. - Abel
I approve of Taf's straightforward hammer-based approach to problems. I apply similar techniques with my knife. They seem to get under the feet of virtually everything and everyone: this cannot be a bad thing --Darville
Don't get distracted by the silliness. They need to be watched, carefully. --John
Enthusiastic to the point where I suspect they will do more harm than good - Bathory
Grrrr.... --Keric
While bizarre, their antics are interesting - the cursed weasels provide an unusual example of the degeneracy of foreign parts. --Melissa
I have barely survived the violent incompetence of these two and do not wish to subject myself to it again. --Leith
The existence of Taf is a Crime, a being of pure chaos governed by no system of mortal nor divine law. The only Just punishment for this creature is Death - Sir Bathory
I was Yarrow and it was great and Taf looked after me and we stabbed stuff! I like them! --Sorrel
Murderer, they say. Tricks and sneaking. What else would one expect from a pair of Loki? And what idiot invited them along to end Azrael? --Freki
*a string of invective, inventive blasphemy against Balance, and oaths to see Taff ruined* --Justin
Dinna ken aboot "Yarrow" yet but Taf strikes me as an irritating eejit who needs a clip round the lug and being told to shove off mair often. --Mhairi
They are good... people! They follow the Balance and this must be good thing in fight against the undead. --Krsto
He's a lot different when talking to Mam than when he's talking to other people, but I think he's mainly done right in her eyes cos he's got his own flock now. Nice to know that me brother's about in the city though - Alferwen
Excellent demon hunters and reliably amusing. I am sure that whatever tenets of the Balance they follow will be promoted by their actions somehow, if only by chance. -Damien.

Natterscrat

He's really nice but a bit funny to talk to sometimes - Alferwen
Friendly bloke, but a bloody awful surgeon. Can't even seem to tie a bandage without stabbing himself up something terrible. -Bil
I don't understand how he's still alive. Gives too much. -- Alexei
Invaluable well of healing but creepy as hell. Disturbingly internally consistent philosophy. Brrrrr. - Meredith
Lovely bloke. Mad as a Caledonian, but he'd go through anything to help someone - Abel
Natterscrat is a devout follower of his Lady, and he serves her well. I may disagree with aspects of his philosophy, but he is always fascinating -- Darville
Extraordinarily helpful in the pursuit of Justice, he seems quite dedicated to the cause and is remarkably good at getting confessions - Bathory
An annoyance. A git. -Alisa
He's rather sweet, kind-of like a favorite uncle? ~Aana
Aside from his devotion to that strange tribal god of his and a certain flakiness, he's a good friend and a source of wisdom. --Keric
Exceptionally interesting, if undoubtedly insane. --Melissa
Heterodox despite his protestations. He is nonetheless a fascinating, intelligent, and devoted person. --Leith
Chaos in a robe, but worryingly has explained the most understandable version of Sordan I've ever heard. --Skord.
One of the few people in this city I felt I could trust - Sir Bathory
I had not expected him to conduct himself so well. In battle he proved me wrong, this healer, despite his previous...strange behaviour. --Freki
A proper priest. Conducts himself well, leads, and spreads the word of his Great. Unafraid to accompany us into the fires of hell. -- Bralak
Most often seen keeping half of the bar alive and on its feet after various undead and demons have wandered in. All I've ever seen him be is trustworthy, kind and humorous. -Larch
*Why* is there a giant rat walking around the bar? Really? This is not some sort of hallucination? *Sigh* very well I will let it be - Iska
His philosophy is unusual, but I'm sure I will always enjoy speaking with him. - Bartimaeus
Orra-looking craitur. --Mhairi
Seeing Natterscrat cursed and haunted for his part in the death of Azrael moved me greatly. I will do whatever it is I can to ensure that the kind, considerate, humorous ball of power is contained and wins his battle, even if it requires taking into myself one of those strange angels he keeps mentioning. - Bone'ed
He's practically a holy relic, and I wish I'd had a decent notebook on me! Intriguing chap. Maybe he'll be up for writing down his story. Not quite sure still why my eyebrows were a matter of discussion... -Meg Seeker

Robin

Miss Robin would make an excellent chaperone - Benson
One of those who you can trust to take the correct course of action for a given circumstance. - Bathory
I have no idea how she can be so unruffled. I've been advised lots of times by the Laundresses to get laid, but I never expected to hear it from a fellow Morvanian... --Meredith
My friend through more trials than I can remember, oaths are much easier to keep when their are good friends to keep them with you. --Skord.

Eorl (misspelt Erol, Yorl, Errol, and Jorl)

Stuck his neck out for me with a working solution to the execution problem. I won't forget that. -Keshrel.
Force of order. Thank the gods for someone *steady*. -Meredith
Level-headed. Approachable. Does a good job of supervising the Wessex Arms ritual site and talking to demons when they come through. He should get a bigger cudgel though: the one he normally he carries has worryingly little reach. - Gawain 2012-10-21
I admire Eorl. He seems to really know what he's doing. Shame about his shield, though. ~Aana
It's nice to know that the one semi-sane person in the realm of the wizards is the one with enforcement power in that jurisdiction. --Keric
A disappointment. --Will.
Frustrating on occasion, but perhaps starting to become a useful person to know. --Melissa
I try to stay away from the ritual circle, but it's reassuring to know that Eorl is generally the one looking after it. Takes his job and his duties seriously. -Larch
The most helpful man possible in learning the recent and less recent history surround planar physics. - Perinus
He is very serious man. Good sign of the robust regulatory institution in this country. --Krsto
Not many people request fire thrown at them. Still, he's a warlock, and therefore crazy. --Vala
I wonder what he did to to end up with this awful job. Or who. --Damien.
I am impressed by this one thus far, he is better than his station - Miss Blackwater
[Quenyar] I cannot believe he just did that. That is disgusting. And he is supposed to be a what now? --Falkon
Mostly a reasonably trustworthy Warlock. Can't say I approve of all of his life choices, but he's a good deal better than some. - Eric

Bone'ed

He's a bit of an odd man and kinda scary when he's cross, an' I'm still not sure whether I need to call him Dad... - Alferwen
He's a bit weird and can be a bit too familiar, but I can't really say anything bad about him. ~Aana
A very puzzling man. I suppose I can call him a friend, but the kind of friend you avoid seeing too much of... --Keric
Yeah, 'e's alright. --Will.
Bizarre, for a human. --Melissa
A good person to have at your back, as long as he agrees with you. Bit odd, seems to more or less run the mercs now in absence of their proper leader. A good person to call a friend. -Larch
Delights in testing me. Rather fun. --Bartimaeus
He needs looking after a bit cos he tends to bite off more than he can chew an' forget that I can look after meself. That might hurt him one day - Alferwen
An Odd little man. Useful if pointed in the right direction, otherwise an education in the Consequences of Rash Action - Mrs Blackwater

Bralak

Should learn to stay his tongue before someone stays it for him - Sir Bathory
No blind servant of another should be allowed such a high position. Better it be given to someone who has served longer and doesn't send reports of our city's weakness around. --Corbin
Learns swiftly, fights alongside us, and I trust him at my back.Strange, to work so well alongside you with in this city that knows neither of us. --Freki
A formidable fighter and dispenser of swift justice. He may sometimes be a little harsher than I would be, but I'm sure he can make an excellent sheriff. May he do a better job than I did! -Larch
All evidence pointed towards him being demonic in nature, I acted in the wishes of my Goddess. Apparently he a Fuegan with poor dress sense. No matter. - Iska
Surprising that someone o' his type would be sae quick tae no dae fit's necessary. He's probably spent too long above ground wi this bunch o' [Caledonian: useless pansies]. --Mhairi
If he sticks that crossbow in my face one more time it's going to get singed... his attitude on elves is somewhat of a challenge. --Vala
Wonderful sense of duty, great at arrests and shooting folks with a big crossbow. Gets in the way sometimes, though. Leave the sentencing to the Justicars. -Chess
While I understand that the orcs are devout in their service of Humact I do wish he would let me get on with my duties - Brother Florian
He worked with my cousins in the city, I understand. As long as civic officers such as him know their place and how to follow. He held his own alongside them to the end --Lady Esme

Willow

A good friend and ally. My successor as secretary, should that be necessary. --Bone'ed
Remarkably sensible for a kender; he has a decent sense of humour and even some useful skills. I continue to be fascinated by that magnifying glass he carries around. --Leith
A good person, like Nicolaa, not many'd cross planes to come get you. There ain't enough people like this - Alferwen
He seems like a good person to be mayor! Appears to be doing a great job so far. Nice guy. -Chess
In this country you have strange way of running town - but this... person is very responsible occupant of the civic office. Is good. --Krsto
Bloody fantastic Mercenary if you need a quick in and out. Probably a decent Mayor too, don't really know what the Mayor's meant to do but he's not wrecked nowt yet. -Bil

Leith

Honest about his practices. Justin trusted him with the axe. I think he could be an ally for my faith. --Corbin
A wonderfully flash spender of moneys. --Bone'ed
A little uncouth at times, but seemed open and honest with his approach to life enough for me to trust him with things I would be loath to lose. --Justin
He serves our Lady well in one respect, but the depth of his devotion remains to be tested. - Bartimaeus
"You filthy bastard!" -- Maia (and Pufferfish wishes she could remember when exactly she said that :p)
This happened after Leith, when pressed, admitted to owning "just the one" bondage chair. --Nyeti
If he comes near me again I'll singe the rest of his skin off. Idiot. --Vala
Willing to test out experimental potions, so that makes him A-OK in my books! I'm not sure he'd do it again, though. -Chess
An extraordinarily well mannered gentleman, though perhaps a little... Intense? - Brother Florian

Mhairi

Irritable and quick to kill those who she feels are dangerous. In every way opposed to our ways. - Bartimaeus
It is pleasing to see someone so sensible mixed in with this crowd. Many of the mages would do well to listen to the words of this one - Miss Blackwater
While I am not sure what they say about elderly Caledonian women, there must be something said. It is almost certainly not good, but it is probably impressive - Florian
If Mrs Blackwater likes her this much, she's probably really dangerous, right? --Ezra
My kind o' surgeon, for all as she resembles a fizzing flask of potion gone dodgy. -Bil
Has a surprisingly good right hook. -Wulfric

Bartimaeus

He used the miracle I was just preparing to cast on Vala. This suggests he thinks like me, which is interesting for one in so much armour, they often do not think. I shall keep him. - Iska
Too quiet, dinnae trust him. Naebody's that quiet unless they're keepin' some'at tae theirsels. Sayin that, he hus got a fish-hook oan his face, so it's probably fer the best that he keeps it tae himsel. --Mhairi
Polite, pensive, and armed to the teeth. The nature of his devotion is clearly different from mine, but I think we will get along well. --Leith
Another of those wonderful people who have to enjoy it when you refuse to answer their questions meaningfully. How fun! Seems a good fellow, and dedicated. -- Bone'ed

Corbin

Is not to be trust! But he swears he is not raise the undead abomination. I will watch very close. --Krsto
*scribbles intently in notebook* --Sir Asher
Heheheh... A Vivamortian with a target on his back. I love this pub, it's hilarious. Cannot possibly be as stupid as that looks. --Damien.
[Quenyar] Some education, but assumes authority that does not belong to him. --Falkon
Evernually, someone's going to explain what's going on with these lot in a way that makes sense. -Bil.

Brother Florian

Why does a gorgeously handsome young chap - complete with tight hose and codpiece - have to appear in the bar at such an inconvenient time? It's far too long since I was last with a man... --Leith
*smiles warmly and nods* --Sir Asher
He refuses to hunt. That's no way to impress your god. Clearly needs help. --Damien
For crying out loud, why does he persist in this nonsense? He'd make some young lady very happy and live a nice long life comfortable if he'd just F*** OFF HOME -Caprifolia
He needs to, y'know, calm down. Yeah... --Ezra
Managed to leave me speechless, and not in a good way. Maybe marriage will help, if he lets out all that pressure he might stop being the worst priest who ever lived. Turning your back on your Lady for Her greatest enemy? Has he even the slightest idea what faith is supposed to mean? -Damien
I like a man who is willing to see the undying as the useful tool that they are. Sad he has to be so noble with it though. -Wulfric

Solafein

I am afraid this man needs to learn some proper animal husbandry techniques - Brother Florian
Two words: Murder Elf. -Xanthe

Maia

Truly exceptional, in many ways. *smiles* --Leith

Dawn

She says her people do not have a leader. So what do they call the person who stands up, takes control and risks everything for them? For my part, I choose to call her family. --Sir Grifon
A darling child, though I was at first surprised at Jonathon for adopting her. She proved him right tenfold. I hope she uses what is given to build a life and to stand tall --Lady Esme
She's been so kind in our endeavours to start the Archaeological Society, especially with the School bit. Wonder what she's been through, to make her so serious so young, rather wish I could help -Meg Seeker

Damien Carrington

*grimaces in frustration* --Sir Asher
What a helpful fellow! Very polite about the artefact and our questions, I'll be seeking him out to ask about help with the Society for sure. - Meg Seeker
Not, exactly, boring. But a bit slow... Heheh. -Ezra
No blood feud... The claws of the hand are not those of the mind - Sigrun

Mrs Blackwater

[Quenyar] Persistent. But the answer is still 'no, you cannot use the ritual circle to meddle with things best left alone'. --Falkon
I am not sure of her attitude in the social situation, but she definitely have good skill in magic. Yes, she is helpful! --Krsto
Interesting to talk to, and at least she does make choices and follow them through. Not sure if she understands the meaning of 'rash' - Meg Seeker
Er, she's writing this down, isn't she? Er... --Ezra
Seems surprisingly competent, if a little reckless on occasion. - Eric

Falkon and Tyhali

These two perfectly reconfirm my suspicions about Warlocks. Why on this plane or any other would you send one who does not speak the local dialect and assume that a translator makes things fine? Absolutely typical Warlock shortsightedness! - Mrs Blackwater
These elves have much skills, but they are not think to use all the power in critical situation! Narrow minds. But, they have the good intention. --Krsto
And here we see a fine example of a warlock from another culture, and his bodyguard. What a wonderful opportunity to study some of the BLOODY CRAZY MAGIC WORSHIPPING *ahem* I mean, interesting divergence in methods. Yes. That. --Meg Seeker

Boreas

An extraordinarily strange young man but seems to have his head screwed on firmer than most around here. Needs a better sense of propriety though. Mrs Blackwater
Entertaining, devout, and actually bothers to spread the word of his faith among receptive ears. More priests could do with a sense of ambition like that. -Damien
Strangely enough, I will miss his endless prattle and defiantly irritating personality. As I miss my brothers' attempts to poison me daily. - Wulfric
One of the Eternal Children, a child's view of the faith, dreams and nightmares, shadows under beds... - Sigrun

Demi

I like this one, very practical and friendly. Is sad to see her being knocked down for being helpful. --Krsto
She's so adorable, I just want to help her! We're definitely going to have to do something about the way those Byzntians treated her. Even with my suspicions, thats no way to treat such a decent young thing. --Meg Seeker
Has potential, but flaps far too much - Mrs Blackwater
How very rude! I was only complimenting her dress. No manners. What can you expect of such a race? - Lady Elayne
Protects her pride well. Does so by wreaking bloody damage on demons. Wears pretty dresses. This bar needs more good examples like that. -Damien
Seems pleasant enough, when she hasn't got her sword rammed into my spine. So, in actual fact, not pleasant at all. -Wulfric

Meg and Sebastian

Sensible people who are want to learn about planar physics and teach others more. This is good! I think they are maybe appreciating new transmortal ideas. And Gospodin Sebastian has the very nice waistcoat, yes! --Krsto
Seb's been my best friend since we were in the school together. Even if he does have a terrible tendency to get himself into trouble, I'd never leave him behind. Who would I throw pebbles at then? --Meg Seeker
Meg has... Potential, but needs to temper herself. Sebastian lacks forward planning. - Mrs Blackwater
They understand the idea of taking what they deserve, even if they may need the odd nudge. -Damien.

Natasha

Sensible woman, will be a good Hag in time - Mrs Blackwater
A voice of sense at a time I needed it, the calmer end of our spectrum in the Temple. I hope she will not think badly of my family after this. - Caprifolia
She's a bit serious, right, but not as strict as Miss...s Blackwater. That's something, yeah... --Ezra

The Caledonian Kender collective

Either these are a blessing or a curse, perhaps they are both. Never thought I'd see them this far south, but if they put a foot wrong there will be a Reckoning, you mark my words - Mrs Blackwater
Excellent, new jesters! -Damien.

Merri

Of surpassing honour and goodness, a boon to the reputation of Laeknir - Florian
She had the courage to tell me what Florian had done when he could not. It remains to be seen if she will stand by him. He will not deserve it if so. - Caprifolia
If she's lucky, she'll finds a way to grant mercy to herself. it appears poor decisions are contagious. -Damien.

Sam

Seems to be fighting constantly, either internally or externally. I just wish I knew how to help her - Florian
Happy to help her, and then I found out what she has in her head and I just want to protect her from the world. But it doesn't work like that, and she knows it. - Meg Seeker
Someone else with a supposedly decent family that keeps producing twisted idiots. I suppose we'd have something in common if she wasn't either a twitching wallflower or a frenzied maniac all the time. -Damien.
Why are we still letting her carry around a sword?? -Wulfric

Gawain

Surprisingly competent for a brotherhood mage - Mrs Blackwater
Good tracker, this lad, would hunt zombies with again. - Caprifolia
Knows the meanin' o' sneaky. Also the meanin' o' Overwhelming Firepower. Good. -Bil

Ambrose

An infuriatingly smug dwarf, a smart tongue which will almost certainly cause the less... Restrained... Humacti to react very badly - Florian
A Dwarf. Through and through. Thus he is very useful, oddly amiable but completely and utterly untrustworthy. -Mrs Blackwater
Is he the sensible one? Is Demi? He seemed like a cheerful chap, though now I worry about the both of them. And their people. -Meg Seeker
A bloody nuisance, I wish he'd just go away. - Eric

Vance Steel

(Incoherent ranting) -Florian
I am not sure why he and my brother seem to rub each other up the wrong way, but a few early mornings of proper swordwork should sort that out. -Caprifolia
If he weren't a Humacti, he'd probably make rather a good Bastite. Seems to have replaced the usual rod up the arse with another "rod" problem. Hrrr. - Damien

Bil Harkins

He's, like, a cool guy. All about peace and stuff. --Ezra

Ezra

A workshy layabout more concerned with shoving gods knows what up his nostrils than doing his job. If Mrs Saltmarsh didn't insist on keeping him then he would be out on his ear faster than a lightning spider. - Mrs Blackwater
Definitely a cretin, and it was worth getting knocked out to figure that out. Still useful to have an alchemist around with no moral compass I suppose. -Damien
Definitely an Alchemist. Managed to not get himself killed to death on a sneaky mission. Just needs to learn to use a bigger stick, then he'll be useful. -Bil

Wulfric

Riddles and questions, threads that connect all. But will it be him who screams or another? - Sigrun

Sigrun

Remarkable, a Lucanite that appears to be talking sense! And remarkably practical, I can only hope it rubs off on the others... -Wulfric

Socks

One moment he is a relatively respectable mercenary, next he has joined a cult and is implicated in murdering a Lord Protector. Vivamort only knows where this is going to end! -Wulfric
