HitsUndoublingPlaytest

CLSWiki | RecentChanges | Preferences | Main Website

At the 2011 AGM there was a motion passed of hit undoubling and appropriate balancing of other things. This needs to be playtested.

Therefore I am running a playtest at 1pm on the 18th of June (normal linear time) unless it suddenly is revealed to me that many many people cannot make that time.

There will be two short linears which both need character parties.

If people who think that they'll be present want to start to picking things that they'd like to play than stick your name by them and stat yourself appropriately. It may be noted that the second linear is likely to be a lot more silly than the first.

Playtest over, almost everyone dead, mwahahahahaha

Linear 1: Montagues and Capultets (200 XP)

Sir John Montague, eldest son of the ailing Lord Montague has been murdered in an ambush on the lands of House Capulet. (The rivals of House Montague). He had travelled to their castle to discuss the latest dispute over the foraging rights for pigs in a certain patch of forest. He arrived argued for a while with certain members of House Capulet and then left. Later his body and those of his bodyguards were found full of poisoned arrows on a road in that same patch of forest. The implication being that he was ambushed on his journey back. Lord Montague has been incensed by what he sees as a treacherous attack and assassination of his eldest son and is convinced that House Capulet orchestrated it. Therefore he has sent his next eldest child to investigate and find the truth.

The Lord of House Capulet has conceded to allow this investigation however on the condition that it be accompanied by one of his household and a Humacti to ensure that the result of this investigation is truthful.

Requested Character Party

Have bow, will shoot people. --Drac
Bonus Brief sent --Malselene
I would need to practice casting in action, so I would like to try this role out. --Shyndree
Bonus Briefing sent --Malselene
Willing to do this if necessary, and I can knock some stats together tonight (possibly at about half three in the morning, admittedly). --MorkaisChosen
Someone else is now doing this --Malselene
I will write something up for this, may have to run after linear 1. --Chevron
You should now have bonus briefing. Running after the first linear is fine. --Malselene

These characters have a further brief with additional details for the person playing them that will be emailed to the person who signs up to play them. It is probably worth getting the brief before stating.

Linear 2: Everyone wants the flange artifact (330 xp)

There is an item of undetermined flange that some sort of demon or maybe oni cult has ot fae crater for some not completely specified nefarious purpose. They are currently doing some sort of ritual that is clearly bad and evil and will likely result in widespread diabolical doom, disaster and other words that begin with d and imply BAD. A crack team of people from the city has been collected to attempt to stop this and prevent them from doing whatever it is they're doing. Of course many different organisations covert the item of generally hilarious flange and hence the city has decreed that they must all only send a few people who must work together in order that no one organisation should acquire such flange and then be corrupted by it.

The plan is to teleport to fae crater ritual site by some other flangy ritual of lesser doom (as the chances of fighting the way through all the guaurds in time to stop the current ritual are low to none existent). On arrival the character party must stop the ritual and seize the flange artifact. It will be impossible to return by ritual teleport as the interaction between the first teleporting ritual and other ritual that had been taking place means that to do would probably result in spaghetification of anyone who attempted it. Therefore afterwards it will be necessary to fight (or sneak or bluff) clear of the ritual site with the flange item through the rings of guards and other groups of people who would possibly also like to acquire the item of all flange.

Yes this linear may be a little sillier than the other.

Requested Character Party

This ones a bit more freeform than the other. Pick an organisation that wants to acquire the flange item (to either destroy it, hoover it up to store in their basement of all flange, keep it for the good of the city, abuse it horribly) - no more than two characters per organisation (please annote below). And then pick your stats. I would preferably like

While it may give away your crazy build please annotate this list if you are fulfilling one of these requirements so that it is clear that they're being used. Feel free to multiclass as desired

Please still stat semi reasonable characters that you could see being played regularly in interactives and linears rather than things that are just possible to stat on 330 xp while being atrocious at lower xps. There are skills that rarely see use on linears but if they would be correct for the character type then please take them. There will be 5 characters maximum, two are already taken.

/StatAccordingToThis

Annotate the above as appropriate and then emails stats to rp389(at)cam.ac.uk

Monster Kit

As there will be the hilarious joys of running two linears back to back I'm not that fussed about this. In general any sort of default generic human will do. People who can and are willing to bring bows please do. If you are charactering then something distictive may be useful, even more useful if it can be taken on/off easily between the two linears.

It would be highly useful if someone with a car could pick up certain bits of the armoury from fliss house. I am not quite certain what doing this entails but will investigate.

Stuff needed from the armoury

Weapons bag
Long Weapons Bag
Swog kit
Leather armour

More details to go up as I write them.

Currently I am planning for character parties of 5, but it may be that that is too big for number of people coming. Therefore if people believe they will probably be in attendance, and can make some indication of that here then that would be appreciated.

Am free of exams and intending to come. Would be happy to play a mage or priest of some kind- obviously I know Black Magic best, but I've been going "ooh, that sounds fun," about all the colours and most of the Miracle trees, so I reckon I could handle just about anything. --MorkaisChosen
I am still 50 / 50 about whether I can come or not. --Chevron
I'm there --Drac
Likely but not certain to turn up now the date's moved --Pufferfish
Pants, probably can't do the 18th --Andy
I might not be able to come if it's this weekend (depends heavily on how well revision for remaining two exams goes) but if it's on the 18th then I'll definitely be able to come. --Emily
Now unable to come -Porange
While I couldn't make the 11th, the 18th does sound somewhat plan shaped, although the Playford ball and associated hassle might interfere. Maybe. —Tea
I can do the 18th and will very likely be there, possibly with a Sally --Cillian
The 18th involves my parents showing up for lunch, but I might be able to arrive late... --ChessyPig
Looks as though that goes for me, too. --NT
My exams are done, so I think I could go. --Shyndree
I am free to come --Robin

As well as people to character/monster it would probably be useful to have another person reffing. Unless anyone (like any of next years ref team) is madly keen I'll probably just grab someone on the day but if you are maddly keen please feel free to volunteer --Malselene

I'm going to be re-enacting at Weald this weekend, but could be available the weekend after. -TimB
