Non-Exec Members are welcome to weigh in too!
So, the start of term is about a month away. Seems like a good time to start planning for Freshers' Week.
This Year fresher's Week is week beginning 5th Oct
Fresher's Fair
- Tues 6th & Weds 7th Oct
- The annual page can be found at FreshersFair
- (This will be updated and a call will be made for volunteers once there has been Exec discussion on the topic)
Suggested/Planned? Activities
- The relevant wiki pages can be found here: Squash2014 and Exec Stuff/SquashDiscussion
- Stat-and-Chat - A chance to meet new players, froth, and maybe even help them stat their first character.
- Time and Place? Friday 9th, time and place TBC
- Can you attend?
- Weapons Practice - Gives more fight-focused new players a chance to play with some weapons, and gives the rest of us a good warm-up to start the year.
- Time and Place?
- Can you attend?
- First Interactive
- Time and Place? Friday 16th, 7pm, place TBC
- Please attend! It would be nice to put in a strong showing for the new folks, and would be a fun chance for everyone to catch up and have some fun together even if you can't make it for the rest of the year.
- First Linear
- Walking Party Meets at:
- Time and Place?
Important Notices
- There appears to be some sort of new platform for Freshers' Week this year? http://www.cambridgefreshersweek.com/ I'm not sure what it is or how it works, but it might be worth looking into this for some more exposure.
Discussion
- Please add discussion and comments on the above here so we don't clog up the page. Thanks! :)
- I was considering trying to book the Burleigh Arms backroom for the Chat and Stat? What do people think of this? Also I want to try and set the timing such that people arn't buying meals, does anyone have any thoughts on this? --Hark
- I vote good idea! ~Pia
- So, when I was an undergrad, the Burleigh Arms would have been in the middle of nowhere, in real person land, and SO FAR AWAY. I know this isn't the case now but the perception might put a lot of people off going? Is there somewhere in the city centre that meets the same criteria? --Pufferfish
- And, at the very least, a slow walking party from centre should be heavily advertised ~IvanS?
- Refs have requested Unitarian Church Hall or similar for Chat n' Stat so that we can have both talking and a mini weapons practice in the same location. --Hobnoblin
