He rapidly came to the conclusion that this was all some elaborate "haze the new guy" ritual.
Keshrels first few months at the arms involved spectacular screw ups and the death of one master mage, this made him somewhat unpopular with his superiors and he is an expert in all of the ins and outs of every punishment detail the guild has.
He escaped punishment duty after tracking down the warlocks that were stealing from the guild and recovering the stolen goods with the aid of Milton.
Life is further looking up in that the bar now has 2 more voices of sanity / blame magnets to join him in trying to stop the ritual circle exploding, and that Imayn has been promoted to journeyman, so he can argue that she is above his pay grade if it all goes horribly wrong.
His problem remains the same as for every warlock in the arms: you are responsible for protecting mages, most of the mages in the arms: Milton, Flo, Imayn, are trouble magnets with the natural tendency to poke the unstable magical effect and the survival instincts of a manically depressed lemming.
Keshrel and Imayn were turned into an elemental human by the Lord of Light in order to cure the curse of the Corpse God. It seemed like a good idea at the time.
On the night before a suicidal adventure to stop the Oni Fractus Keshrel discovered that the priestess of Morvanna that he quite liked, liked him as well.
Getting back from the plane of Elemental Grey he was promptly arrested for helping 2 beings that may or may not be Oni take over said plane, thus possibly violating the warlocks oath. After the intervention of Journeyman Eorl, Master Firebrand eventually agreed not to execute him immediately and he was last seen being escorted away by Journeyman Eorl for house arrest until an Elemental Lord makes its views explosively known.
Following silence on the Elemental Lord front he was released and promptly skipped the country for a holiday to Anderlucia. During said holiday Strassa, the Lord of Water came to a conclusion and attempted to drown him, flooding a non trivial part of the country in the process.
Dripping wet he made it back to Grantabrugge and was able to negotiate his survival to majority vote. Strassa believes him deserving of execution, Lumina does not, the reminaing 4 lords are silent on the issue and Strassa has agreed to delay sentance until a full opinion is made.
A combination of factors over the year including friends dying, dwarves, drow, the Wessex Arms, and the suicidal nature of apprentices that he is technically responsible for have turned Keshrel into an angry young man. He is not quite sure exactly why, and/or if he needs therapy/a long holiday somewhere far away (that doesn't get flooded).
Keshrel and Meredith married in a quiet ceremony and decided that their respective lives in Grantabrugge had vastly too high a chance of being very short. He has been officially posted to guard the 2 line circle in the town of Chadwick, where he has been promised vast quantities of boredom and very few demons. It is entirely possible that they took up Abels offer of a holiday in some place called Mongolia - far to the east, pony trekking, little magic, no demons, high ground (important when the elemental lord of water occasionally tries to drown you), yurt living and meditation. This off the totally legit guy Abel met in a pub. There might also be a giant wall of fire.
