Aka Jon.
Joined CLS in Michaelmas 2015 after starting LARPing by doing Empire that year and looking for more LARPing to do during the winter.
Somehow became treasurer for 2016-2018. Also a ref for 2017-2018 and again for 2019-2020.
Current Characters
Empire
- Jabin Endsmeet, Battlemage and Day ritualist. Originally Highguard, but decided that Urizen was a better fit and changed nations after a year. Despite being my longest lived character, is somehow spectacularly averse to getting plot and has accomplished nothing of note.
Pioneers
- Kayin-Za, recent graduate in radiology and war sciences. Wrote a paper on the use of high energy radiation in resolving diplomatic disputes. Unfortunately no convenient opportunity has arisen to test his theories, so funding for his next project has been held up. Hence he's doing a stint on Redduluto to grease the wheels at the funding council. Spent his first deployment on Redduluto sciencing the science to try to understand the digestive system of a planet eating monster. Spent his second deployment on Redduluto wondering why on Zebulon we're bothering to save the indigenous species of Redduluto, then sciencing the science of a new planet. Finally, assisted in the rushed repair and emergency launch of the shuttle to escape the indestructible gravity creatures.
Greencloaks
- Sen Tahara, the nicest Myr'na healer ever. Despite being physiologically unable to hurt anyone, is somehow a leading member of the naval intelligence hit squad, and definitely not a vampire.
Retired / Dead Characters
Citadel
- Thanis of the Diamond Tribe. A skilled techgnostic who's come to the citadel to learn about AIs. For entirely legit reasons. Released the KNIGHTMARE RED PROTOCOL in Super-Mega-Murder mode on the Citadel, resulting in the death of 1/5 of the Citadellian population, and in his quick death at the hands of other players.
- Bink/Thanis fic and downtimes.
Age of Aether
- Lucas Smith, Boffin in the New Victorian Commonwealth, specialising in gauss technology to resist the martian menace. Notable achievements are building a device with which to covertly poison martian fuel supplies, saving a rocket ship that had veered off course, and taking a leading role fixing an alien holographic AI so we could escape a malfunctioning prison ship's holodeck.
PACT
- Ashmun, well-meaning and rather naive Ykriete healer, who sort of mastered all 4 elements and may have become the Avatar. Is also addicted to some very dangerous concentration-enhancing drugs.
BW
- Aiden Smith, engineer in the Army of the Centre. A competent engineer but terrible officer who makes spectacularly poor personal decisions. Led the disastrous first expedition against small-time smuggler Pouch, losing one member and gifting 4 GD of loot to the now-suddenly-big-time-smuggler Pouch. Sacrificed his memories of the expedition to a water spirit because it was easier than coming to terms with it. Invented a self-replicating bioweapon with evocation and wood magic and dumped it in to the sea near Suddene, which was surprisingly helpful for closing the rift there. Participated in the rituals to contact all of the totem spirits, and led the ritual to contact Phoenix. Somewhat redeemed himself by helping to take down Pouch at the end of the year. Was last seen making arrangements for a cross-dimensional prison break and experimenting with very legitimate combat drugs. After the experimental combat drugs went up in a huge debacle he was cashiered out to a remote outpost in the far north where he couldn't cause trouble.
- Bink/Aiden Downtimes
NFNC
- Avric, a cleric of the Aspirant, but whose first love was really doing imaginative things with necromancy and rituals. Most notable for lopping off his own arm and reanimating it as a zombie arm. (Technically) Led the ritual to turn Daria Errante in to a lich in Easter term. After learning at the 3ygb that Explorer didn't really mind necromancy, and was actually more interested in doing imaginative things with necromancy and rituals than the Aspirant, Avric promptly switched sides and helped to summoned Explorer in to the world, only mildly (and strictly figuratively) stabbing Daria in the back in the process.
- Avric's (non-canon) epilogue: Despite being chosen of Explorer he was never truly accepted by the other Explorers in the church; meanwhile his former friends in the Aspirant Church shunned him for his last-minute defection. As a result he lived a somewhat lonely life, though mitigated by being a high priest and chosen of Explorer. His attempts to teach the Explorers necromancy weren't very successful, since the opposition to necromancy among the Explorers was pretty deeply entrenched, even with Explorer herself telling them it's ok. As a result, though he very much wanted to be around to try to summon Aspirant in to the world at the closing of the next portal, he could never teach any Explorers enough necromancy to perform the lich conversion ritual so that he'd live long enough. Eventually, near the end of his natural life, Daria relented and forgave him and offered him the chance to become a lich. ~400 years later Avric then helped Daria to summon the Aspirant in to the world at the closing of the next portal.
Curious Pastimes
- Novice Brother Amicus of the Hospitallers of Damacest of the Lions. Another incredibly nice guy that just loves to heal people and harp on about Damacest, goddess of healing, protection and kindness. Also moonlights as a banisher necromancer (which is actually a really difficult thing to do).
- Rhyddwyn of the Library of Norholt. Short-lived Ritualist, but quite good at it for the two events I played him.
Other
I like making systems, and have actually run one now, though it got ended early by covid.
