Talis exploded at the end of the '12 3YGB breaking a barrier that was stopping the gods from harvesting the souls of their worshippers. Or something.
Talis left his home in the summer of 1292; he was fed up of the undead, daemons and witches that seem to infest the countryside and watching the village burning again was the final straw. He was going somewhere safe. He was going to Grantabrugge! (Note: may be lies).
He soon learned that this was the stupidest mistake he has ever made. Quite something, given his usual decision-making.
On getting to the Wessex Arms he saw some mercenaries, and it looked like the best job ever. So he took a job, fought some drunkards in the fens and realised that this was the life for him. He then continued fighting the undead and realised that maybe things were getting a little bit serious.
He nearly caught religion out in the fens with a Vivamortian, an Azraelite and some Anubisites competing for him. Luckily they all lost and he got an artefact axe, while one of the Anubisites got dead and the other ran away. Double lucky given what Anubis turned out to be.
He has managed to end up in a bit of a run of bad luck; they only just escaped with the Mason treasure and they lost the king's paychest. However that lead to Talis and Mikron rescuing Rosamund, Calam and Charles de Potterne from execution by the Witch-Queen, so not all bad. Course when it turned out that Charles was in league with the Witch-Queen and that the whole thing was a setup to posess Rosamund and take her back to Grantabrugge with a Witch-Queen in her he'd feel a little less proud of this. It looked like things were going to go better after rescuing the treasury, defeating an oni and rescuing his friends cousin from hibernians. However, Mikron has always had the ability to surprise Talis and has taken that run and chopped it into tiny bits.
Somehow he has ended up Mayor of this fine city. There was a record voter turnout, even. Better not prod him too hard about it though, he's quite touchy. Now there's another vote but he has bigger problems. One moment of panic and two are dead.
He's had an interesting year making his way around Albion, and now it's time to head back to Grantabrugge, to see what Aloysius and Ysmay have done to the place. Might have lost a few marbles up in Caledonia, or perhaps they were never there to begin with.
1. Your character is being announced at the Royal Ball by the most pompous, enthusiastic and long-winded Master of Ceremonies in recorded history. What do they declaim?

3. However improbable it may seem, your character just won a boasting competition. What was their winning boast?
Held onto the chain for nearly a year and I'm still a free man. Look at the next guy - took him two weeks to stoop to treason.
4. Your character loses a hand irrevocably, and is given the opportunity to have something grafted on to replace it. What do they pick?
Another hand? Hook as second best I suppose. More difficult to disarm you at least.
5. What one impossible thing would you most like to have, be, or be able to do, in order to better physrep your character?
Muscles would be handy but probably an rusty, bleeding bracer or freaky glowing axe. (or a screamy hat, come to think of it)
6. Your character is asked by their immediate superior which one thing they would choose to save from their dwelling, were it on fire. Sensing that a flippant answer is not called for, how do they instead answer?
His Axe. Azrael was quite strict about that. Repeatedly.
7. Your character was abducted by Nightmares (or local equivalent) on the way out of the Arms, and wakes up in a sack (just as armed as they left the pub). What do they have in their pockets, and what one further thing do they wish they had also picked up from home this morning?
Pockets full of knives, tools, schillings, assorted skulls and his Axe. Maybe some official documentation. Wishes he'd brought his plate. Lots harder to abduct someone in plate.
8. Your character's life is flashing before their eyes. Describe briefly any two of the following: Leaving their childhood home. Losing their first love. The first time they killed. The first time they lost a comrade. Another occasion on which they nearly died. A time they lowered their standards. A time they abandoned hope. Something that terrified them.
She came back to the city to tell him off. She could do her own damn politicking she said. He turned his back and then she was over. Poison. They burned for it. Damn yes they burned.
Their leader was gone (in a puff of guts) but the bloody bandits kept coming. Soon the undead showed up and that was when it happened. A cockup at a bridge where everyone wanted to be the hero and the one with the knives takes the job. She goes down as does the next who tries to hold them back. When we come back they are too far gone. Mikron Davies, what the fuck happened to you - seemed only a few months ago that we were beating up Hibernians together.
9. Your character wakes up in a Militia cell with no clear memories of their last few hours. Given time to think it over, why will they conclude they are there?
Probably another insane lightist. Oh well, it's round about time for breakfast. Mondays is ham, if I remember.
10. Your character was obliged to leave town. As they fled, they left messages with a trusted friend. Most of them dealt with religious and social obligations, and put in place provision for their return (or otherwise) - but they found time for one quick personal note. Who is it to, and roughly what does it say?
Actually did leave town, stormed off in something of a huff. They can sort out their own damn business, thank you very much.
