[Note: Clicker is the Wit's End term for Wood Channeler]

“Look, there’s nothing for you here”

“Nothing for 'you', maybe. I’m not some mages-damned adventurer. I have a life. My children are buried here” The woman folded her arms defensively across her chest.

Ember didn’t want to negotiate, it wasn’t her job. Instead she flung a ball of fire at the wall “There’s nothing for you here. Pack your things”

After he was done counting all the animals in the village, Kris counted the people, so he could divide the animals equally and fairly between them. He ignored the two adventurers, of course “This is just so we make sure all the animals get through. We’ll stick together on the other side the animals go back to being communal, alright?”

Marta ran a hand down the smooth silk of the gowns left in her wardrobe. She had commoner clothing that she was wearing and there were more important things to carry with her through the rift. She wouldn’t be needing them in the new word, anyway. Without any lands there to claim, she wouldn’t be nobility. Even here, Marta hadn’t really been nobility in a long time.

The original owner of David’s house had left books behind when they went to war. David grabbed two of them and shoved them into his bag, forcing down his belongings to make them fit. He was twelve now, more than old enough to learn to read. Perhaps someone in the new world would teach him.

It had been their mother’s sword. Danjal hadn’t touched it since the war, they weren’t some adventurer who went around stabbing things. But if things went badly after they arrived…they could wield it, after six months in the army. Can’t be too careful.

Anvil didn’t pack. He didn’t have any belongings. Owning things was a people thing.

Cajsa changed into boots that had been Jeppe’s after the clicker was done treating her injuries. The shoes were in reasonable quality, and she wasn’t going to wear almost worn through boots into a world full of new danger, not if she could avoid it. Jeppe was probably the last of them to die on their own world. She’d find out soon whether he was lucky or unlucky.

“Are you coming Vivi?” Stein stood next to the rift looking at his Owlbear. The animal was standing less than a meter away from him, but refused to come any closer “It’s not scary” he tried to coax the animal, then threaten her “Vivi if you don’t come we’ll never see each other again”

Still nothing, though Stien was sure Vivi understood him. He understood her too. She had been his brother’s owlbear before she was his and she was going to stay in the world where her master was buried. Stein stepped away from the rift and wrapped her arms around the bear “Be safe and look after him for me”

For about three minutes Edge was alone in his world. He had to do a divination to see if any one was trying to hide. Though even if there was they would almost certainly have soon followed, after realising their home was almost inhabitable, at best.

Everything else was taken care of. The man Quicksilver wanted called an idiot had been called an idiot and left anyway. The Owlbear had been buried. The idiot who had got himself mauled to death on the way out had been buried.

Meleodin began the spell.
