The party travelled to Kernow, one assumes to rescue a series of overconfident knights who had tried to liberate the land from the fae. There they met Ulfgrimm, a lost Norscan who was being prevented from passing a magical statue by tricksy fae magics.
Together they got past the statue, in the process inadvertently summoning a Spectral Lich, Flesred, who told a tale of the foul necromancer who had enslaved her. Discovering through science that the Humacti were unable to harm Flesred, they grudgingly allowed her to act as their guide to take them to the necromancer, Bartholemew, who conveniently also happened to be responsible for slaughtering the knights.
On the way the party encountered numerous undead, some more tricksy fae puzzles, some tricksy undead puzzles (provoking arguments about nationality and faith) and a terribly maimed Johnite priest nailed to a tree and blinded (eww, Locksmith is good at terrible wound make up, as it turns out). The priest was rescued, only for a hiedous monster to erupt from his belly shortly after. Notably amongst the puzzles were a body with its heart exposed and needing to be made to pump to open a gate. Also a Wallachian statue which would stand aside if properly insulted.
Some suspiciously familliar faces turned up, including Astrid, Marrick and some very accusatory nightmares, these were clearly just pretending to be who they claimed to be, but did seem to rather like messing with people's heads
Some pages from a diary were also found. Some significant time later and at a crucial moment it was noticed that one page had writing on the back as well.
Fae appeared in the guise of old friends at various points to sow doubt and discord. With (dis)honourable mention to a lecherous book that got awfully attached to Ivan.
Terrible injuries were sustained. In particular by Ardan's white shirt, which may never recover from the copious amounts of fake blood applied to it. One of the party may have gone mad, been possessed or possibly gained religion- it is unclear which. Cyd's armour tried to escape from his shoulder, either as a result of tricksy fae magics or maybe not having been tied on properly. Some people who might potentially have helped the party were killed due to looking suspiciously, err, suspicious. And probably called Igor.
Shockingly, some of the party who shall remain nameless (let us just call them Adran and Inav) adopted a policy of 'hack first, ask questions later', which backfired somewhat when it turned out that the way through the final gate was to use a zombie which had just been hacked to pieces.
Finally, Bartholemew was battled and defeated- in no small part due to Ivan giving his life. An act for which his spirit was taken directly to Humact by Svetlana, Angel of Redemption.
In a move which surprised no-one, Flesred used the confusion of this battle to escape as soon as she was freed from slavery.
